All about me!

There’s so much I want to share with you that there’s no way it could all fit onto an about me page! So, here are ten fun facts about the woman behind the camera at Kathleen Pieratt Photography. I can’t wait to get to know you during your session and share more of my world with you, too.

  1. My family is my world

I guess it should come as no surprise that a family photographer would be absolutely in love with her own family photos! When I flip through the baby book my mom made for me, I quickly skip past the facts like how big I was when I was born or when I first walked. But I could spend hours staring at the photos! I grew up the middle child between two amazing sisters. They are my best friends to this day, and I don’t know what I’d do without them! Now, to keep the trio-trend alive, I am a mother to three littles myself. I also have an incredible half brother! And because I’m married to a vet, it should come as no surprise that we have a dog,

  2. There’s actually a sentimental reason behind the bee in my logo

When I was still in pre-school, my parents divorced. We weren’t able to see my dad very often, so as a way to make up for all the lost time, he used to give us “experience gifts” for holidays and birthdays. One year he got us concert tickets and another time we took a family trip to the beach. But the one that has always stood out in my memories came the Christmas after my college graduation. When he loaded us all into the car, we had no idea where we were headed, and you can imagine how shocked we were when we pulled into the parking lot in front of a tattoo parlor! He’d brought us to get matching tattoos! Because my sister was engaged and would soon change her name, we decided to get a tattoo that commemorated my maiden name: Bates. So, we all got bees for the “B” in our last name. To this day, that little bee reminds me how precious family is, and that is something I hope to reflect in every image I take.

  3. My spirit animal is a humpback whale

In the 2nd grade, we had to choose an animal to write a report about. I chose the humpback whale, and I’ve loved them ever since. There’s just something about those gentle water giants who love their families to pieces that I relate with. And the way they like to hang out with all kinds of different animals seals the deal!

  4. I have an insatiable sweet tooth

I could eat sweet treats ‘til I pop! I never get tired of sour belts!

  5. My favorite color is lilac

I’ve always loved the color lilac with a little more of a pinky hue. It’s been my favorite color since my mom gave me a pair of lilac jammies when I was just two years old. My parents have always told me that I loved those jammies so much that my Dad would wash them every night so that I could wear them the next day, and that went on for almost a year! I even painted my front door lilac!

  6. I love Halloween, but hate scary movies

I love every single holiday, and I’m known for over-decorating, but Halloween is hands down my absolute favorite! I live for themed parties and any chance to wear a costume. I’ve dressed up as Gumby, Doug Funny, and even Tonya Harding’s mom! But in a shocking twist I can’t stand scary movies. They terrify me! I tried watching “The Ring” once and barely made it 30 minutes!

  7. I’ve always wanted to be a morning person

    ...but spoiler alert: I’m not!

  8. I’ve moved over 10 times

I’ve moved over 10 times in my life! I mostly grew up in Lufkin, Houston, and Austin, but I’ve also lived in California, New Mexico, and Alabama to name a few.

  9. I’ve always been extremely creative

As far back as I can remember, I’ve been crazy creative. When I was little, my mom was always doing some kind of craft project, and I loved helping her with them. She even let me paint flowers all over the floor of our greenhouse. Today, I still leap at any chance to express my creative side. Even when my daughter brings projects home from school, I have to fight the urge to grab a box of crayons and take over!

  10. I’m always up for an adventure

From road trips to hiking, I’ll find any excuse to plan an adventure! My family can usually be spotted outside doing something active, like riding bikes or going swimming. My favorite road trip I’ve ever taken was with my mom, stepdad, sisters, and brother to Disney World. Because my brother is 10 years younger than us, he was 6, while my sisters and I were in our teens. At first, we weren’t super into it. But when our parents decided to rent an RV and road trip the entire way there, it soon became one of my favorite adventures! I also hope to travel the world someday. The top spots on my bucket list are Greece, Italy, New Zealand, Thailand, and Greenland. So, if you’ve been, I can’t wait to hear all about it!
